My Lake lies on the trail between Spotted Bear Pass and the north end of the Chinese Wall. It is a delightful spot to relax on a warm fall day. Western larches turn gold and stand in magnificence against a crystal blue sky. Light winds ruffle the shallow waters. The quiet of this scene is intense and only broken by a few migrating waterfowl that stop by to feed. I photographed this scene in late September 2010.

A large print of this scene is perfect for meeting rooms, reception areas and dining rooms.

This section of the famous Chinese Wall is just south of Larch Hill Pass and deep in the Bob Marshall Wilderness. An intricate network of elk trails attest to the passage of large numbers of these stately animals during their annual migrations. On this wonderful morning, however, all was quiet and serene. I made this photographed in late September 2010.

The images of Lake Levale were made in July 2005 during a nine day mountaineering adventure in the Bob Marshall Wilderness west of Choteau, Montana.

Lake Levale is framed by dense forest and the stunning cliffs at the north end of the North Wall, a feature similar to the Chinese Wall further South. On this rare day the lake was calm and only a few clouds punctuated the blue sky. Both images have identical dimensions.

Available Sizes and Prices:
16" x 24" $195
--------12" x 18" $150
8" x 12" $65
--------4" x 6" $35

The confluence of Strawberry Creek and Bowl Creek forms the headwaters of the Middlefork of the Flathead River. Countless additional tributaries enter this stream before it becomes the great river on the southwest boundary of Glacier National Park. While we walked, our friends Mike, Tiffany and Al enjoyed a leisurely ride up to the Trilobite Lakes while carrying some of our gear on their pack animals. They crossed the Middlefork at Gooseberry Park, turned left up Clack Creek and ascended to the high country beyond. We parted company near the Trilobite Lakes.

Dean Lake is perfectly situated to reflect a majestic view of Pentagon Mountain. On this rare morning the lake was perfectly calm. Puffy clouds provided a hint of possible rain and the only sound was that of birds singing. Of the images I captured that morning the one above is my favorite.

16" x 24" $195

The trail south from Dean Lake drops into the upper reaches of Basin Creek and then climbs through beautiful meadows and rock strewn slopes to Switchback Pass. As the trail gains elevation the landscape becomes more rugged. The marvelous sky scrapping summit of Pentagon Mountain lies just north of the pass. Kevan Mountain, where I set up to capture this image, lies immediately south. All around is the rugged beauty and great expanses of the Bob Marshall Wilderness.

16" x 24" $195

The Trilobite Range is a long ridge connecting Pentagon Mountain to the Gable Peaks. Trilobite Peak is the highest point on the ridge. Below the east side cliffs lie several lakes. For this photo I arose before sunrise and walked about a mile to the northern most lake. As I set up to photograph the sun began to highlight the mountain while the shallow lake lay in darkness. There was not a cloud in the sky, a breath of wind or a sound to break the stillness. The mountain turned golden yellow and the last snowbanks of winter were etched in white on the summit ridge. I captured several interesting images that morning. My favorite is the at the top of this page. Send me an email if you are interested in other views of this peak.

This photo was made during a six day, 65 mile trek to the Chinese Wall in September of 2008. On my second morning I awoke at 4 and left camp a little after 5 a.m. hoping to beat the sunrise. A crescent moon was rising in the east but it provided little illumination. Walking in pitch dark with a head lamp on a trail I'd never hiked before was interesting. I reached a saddle on Prairie Reef with great views from high above the valley floor. I had only a few minutes to spare before the Chinese Wall, now visible in the distance, was lit up by the rising sun. This colorful photograph includes the Chinese Wall from Sphinx Mountain on the left to Cliff Mountain on the right with part of Red Butte also illuminated.

This photo was made during a six day, 65 mile trek to the Chinese Wall in September of 2008. I camped high on Larch Hill and hiked to the summit for the sunrise. This view includes Salt Mountain on the left with Larch Hill Pass, the north end of the Chinese Wall on the right. The Swan Range is in the distance.

Being almost four times wider than high makes this is a most unique print. It will attract a great deal of attention in to your office or home.

This photo was made during a six day, 65 mile trek to the Chinese Wall in September of 2008. On the fourth day of this trek I hiked for 6 miles along the base of the Chinese Wall. The scene was ever changing but was dominated by the massive cliffs rising 1,000 feet above me. This view captures the intricate detail of the Chinese Wall towering over the alpine forest near the head of Moose Creek.

Available Sizes and Prices:
14" x 9" $95
--------12" x 8" $95
8" x 5" $65

This photo was made during a six day, 65 mile trek to the Chinese Wall in September of 2008. On the fourth day I hiked for 6 miles along the base of the Chinese Wall. I saw fresh bear tracks on the trail. There was little wind and it was very quiet. I expected to be confronted with these magnificent animals at any moment but the bears remained elusive. I photographed the black bears somewhat later and merged them into the scene I envisioned at the base of the 1,000 foot cliffs of the Chinese Wall. This spectacular panoramic image has rich color and nicely captures the drama I experienced that day.

Available Sizes and Prices:
20" x 10" $150 16" x 8" $95 12" x 6" $65
